FAQ regarding Glass City’s chip-enabled Visa Credit Card
Q. When will I receive a new chip-enabled Visa to replace my existing Visa credit card?
A. Glass City will start reissuing new chip-enabled Platinum Visa credit cards beginning November 1. Your new chip-enabled credit card(s) should be received via U.S. mail to your home within 7-14 business days after November 1.
Q. Why am I receiving a new card?
A. Even though your existing Glass City Visa credit card may not be expired, in our efforts to enhance security and fraud protection, we are issuing new Glass City Platinum Visa credit cards with chip technology to all cardholders.
Q. How does chip technology protect my information?
A. Every time you use your card at a chip-enabled terminal, the embedded chip generates a unique transaction code. This prevents stolen data from being fraudulently used.
Q. What should I do with my old Glass City Platinum Visa Credit Card?
A. Once you activate your new card, please destroy your existing card for security reasons.
Q. Will my current credit card information change?
A. Your credit card number will not change; however, your card will have a new expiration date. You will also receive a new, unique 4-digit PIN number for each cardholder (for ATM and cash advance transactions) that will be mailed separately to your home approximately 3 to 7 business days after the receipt of your new chip-enabled credit card.
Reminder: Please update your automatic bill payment service providers with your new card expiration date.
Q. Do I need to enter a PIN to pay with a chip-enabled card?
A. No. You will not need to enter a PIN when paying with your Glass City Visa Credit Card, but you may be prompted to sign for your purchase.
Q. Where can I use my chip-enabled card?
A. Whether you check out using chip technology or swipe your card, more places than ever now accept Visa credit cards.
Q. How do I pay at a chip-enabled terminal?
A. It’s easy to make purchases with your chip-enabled credit card. Simply insert the chip end of your card into the terminal with the chip facing up. Leave your card in the terminal and follow the prompts on screen. Remove your card from the terminal when prompted, then sign for your purchase and take your receipt.

Q. Why do I need to leave my card in the terminal?
A. While your card is in the chip-enabled terminal, the embedded chip creates a unique transaction code. This prevents stolen data from being fraudulently used. If you remove your card too soon, your transaction will be cancelled.
Q. Can I still swipe my card to pay?
A. Yes. If a merchant is not yet chip-enabled, you can still swipe your card.
Q. Will I have to pay any fees to use my chip-enabled card?
A. No. There are no additional fees to use your new card.
Q. Does my card have all the same benefits?
A. Yes. You can count on the same level of benefits you always had.
Q. Can I still earn rewards with my new card?
A. Yes. You can keep receiving the same great rewards if you have a ScoreCard Rewards Visa with Glass City.
Q. Will my existing Glass City Visa Debit card be upgraded with chip technology in the future?
A. Yes, all Glass City Visa debit cards will be upgraded with chip technology in early 2016. Once a more definitive date is determined, it will be communicated.
PLEASE NOTE: Effective November 1, 2015, all new and replacement Glass City Platinum Visa credit cards will be mailed to the cardholders’ home. Due to our new chip-enabled technology, new and replacement credit cards can no longer be issued instantly upon request in our branches.
